Frequently asked questions
I forgot my password. Can you reset it?
We cannot reset your password remotely.
Whispering Thoughts is local-first: your password protects encryption keys stored on your device.
We do not have access to your password or your journal entries.
If you previously set up Recovery inside the app (recovery token / recovery questions), you may be able to regain access using the app’s recovery flow.
If you did not set up Recovery, you may not be able to decrypt your existing journal database.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. It is not synced to any cloud server owned by Ekoche Studios.
How do I move my journal to a new computer?
Since we do not offer cloud sync, you move your journal manually:
Open Settings in the app.
Click Export Backup.
Move the exported file to your new computer (USB drive, your own cloud storage, etc.).
On the new computer, choose Import Backup.
Can I request a refund?
Yes. All billing and licenses are managed by the Microsoft Store.
Open your Microsoft Account purchase history.
Request a refund according to Microsoft’s policy.
We do not handle payment information directly.
